Some planning goes into pizza night with this dough but it's so worth it. By planning, we mean taking it out of the freezer and placing it in your fridge 5 hours (or more) before you plant to use it.
Not only is this dough easier on your gut than conventional pizza dough, it's also extremely versatile - we use this for pizza, calzones and stromboli's and soon you will too!
Here's a quick how-to:
As mentioned, you’ll want to take it out of the freezer about 5 hours before you want to use it (longer works too) and defrost it in your fridge. Be sure to keep it in the packaging at this stage.
After 5 or so hours, take it out of the packaging and place it in a bowl with some oil on the bottom so it doesn’t stick.
Place a clean dish towel over the bowl to help keep it a bit warm and let it sit for about an hour and a half.
Then it’s ready to make pizza.
Make sure your oven, pizza stone or pizza oven is hot. Place the topped pizza in the oven and watch for melted cheese and a little charring (leoparding) on the bottom of the crust.
This sourdough pizza dough is a game changer for homemade pizza night!
Enjoy! 🍕
